SEND

Some children may need additional support, from time to time, in specific areas, or children may need longer term support, perhaps in multiple areas. Children requiring additional support are given, whenever possible, extra help from their class teachers. Work is set at an appropriate level for individuals. The school has a number of Teaching Assistants who work under the direction of the class teachers or in specific roles within school. Pupils with physical difficulties are catered for in accordance with the LA's guidelines. The school is equipped with some facilities for physically disabled children.

Parents/ carers are very welcome to discuss any concerns that they have, regarding their child’s learning or development, with the staff of the school. In the first instance, this conversation will usually take place with the class teacher. A close partnership with parents/ carers is beneficial in ensuring that individuals achieve the best possible outcomes.

The SENDCo has responsibility for monitoring all children who require extra assistance. With parent/ carer permission, outside professionals may be consulted to offer additional advice. We have a governor who is responsible for special needs and its provision. The SENDCo is Liz McGrath and the SEN governor is Mrs Hannah Gillings. Both can be contacted through the school office.
