Goal - To Cycle to School Once a Week
I really love cycling and usually it would be on tracks and lanes. It was easy thinking of cycling to school as something I could do as part of my Going For Goals. My journey to school involves the A15 main road as I live in Lincolnshire and eventually cycle paths once I have passed Market Deeping. The hard part would be finding a day where I am able to cycle into school without the need to get across Peterborough to meetings at other schools, The Town Hall or Bayard Place - which is often the case.
I spent some time during the half term holiday checking my bike over including buying a set of lights (LED one's which are great), fitting road tyres as my bike is a mountain bike with chunky tyres and finding a rucsack.
Friday 26th February
Finally a day where I could cycle to school without meetings in Peterborough. A wet and windy day! With my rucsack packed with laptop, files and change of clothes I set off. The wind was very gusty and quite challenging. Luckily the rain showers cleared and I arrived at school just after 8 o'clock. After school I had cross country club and a practise run at William Law school where I used my bike to keep pace with our fastest runners! And then the homeward journey, I used my lights for the first time and they were great.
Wednesday 3rd March
It was freezing! My finger tips really suffered cycling to school this morning. However I am really pleased with myself for making the effort to cycle to school again. The best part today was - no head wind or rain. I am looking forward to my cycle home but will have to cycle to Welbourne first as I have an Extended School meeting at 1530. I hope to cycle again this week but my diary will dictate. Why don't you cycle to school?
