This Week's News


This week the children have been learning to read and write words containing the phonemes /ch/ and /sh/. They have also been learning to read tricky word 'was'. Red phonics group have been learning a rhyme to help them spell because. They have also been using the word 'because' to extend their sentences. 

In Maths the children have been working on subtraction. We have been looking at number sentences and discussing the symbols - and =. The children have been solving practical subtration problems involving the game of skittles. They have also played a new game called 'Subtraction Splat!'

In Literacy, we have been reading the story 'Lost and Found'. This tells the story of a young boy who tries to help a lost penguin find his way home. The children have been thinking about they would need to pack if they were going to a cold place and writing lists.
