Outdoor Learning and Trips

Learning outside the classroom is defined as the use of places other than the classroom for teaching and learning. It is about getting children and young people out and about, providing them with challenging, exciting and different experiences to help them learn. (Institute for Outdoor Learning)

At Werrington Primary, we know that giving children experiences outside the classroom is vital for developing knowledge, creating practical memories and encouraging children to be part of experiences that would not be available in the classroom. By visiting places of worship, fantastic museums and other educational venues, our classes are able to take part in amazing experiences that give them access to artefacts, specific subject experts and locations that bring their learning to life!

Residentials are an important part of the children's outdoor learning experiences at our school. Next academic year, (2024-25) we will offer overnight adventures as the children progress through school, in year 4 and year 6.
