  • Werrington Primary School -Academy Orders Received June 2017

    30/08/17

I am able to give you an update regarding the progress made towards forming a Multi Academy Trust. On June 6th the Department for Education - Regional Schools Commissioner Headteacher Board met to consider our Academy Conversion application along with the other Proposed Soke Education Trust schools namely Wittering Primary School and John Clare Primary School.  In addition to this the proposed Soke Education Trust Sponsor Application was also considered in respect of Gunthorpe Primary School.  I am now able to confirm that the DFE have issued an Academy Order to enable WPS to formally proceed with the conversion process.  I am also able to share that the Department for Education considers the Soke Education Trust to be an appropriate organisation to sponsor an academy which means that Gunthorpe will be part of the Soke Education Trust.  This Head Teacher Board was the first board since the General Election and Purdah (the official pre-election period between the election announcement and final results which places restrictions of civil servants) and we were delighted to hear of the positive outcome. We are working to a conversion date of November 1st 2017 and I will provide you with an update in the new school year.  The opportunities for collaboration and professional development that will be made possible through the Trust will benefit all pupils and we are incredibly excited about the possibilities for our future working together.

  • Basic Skills Quality Mark

    06/02/14

We currently have the 10 Year Award for revalidating the Quality Mark and value the recognition this provides.  However this is reviewed every three years and so...

Mrs Pilcher the Basic Skills Quality Mark assessor visited WPS on Wednesday 5th February 2014 to undertake a review and assess the school against the latest standards.

This involved meeting children, staff who work at our school and visiting classrooms to observe learning.  Mrs Threadgill(Deputy Headteacher KS1) and Mr Moody (Deputy Headteacher KS2) co-ordinated a whole school effort to compile evidence in support of our self evaluation against the new standards.

We have been informed that we have passed this assessment which is a tremendous piece of feedback!  The full report will be made available via the website.

    Well done everyone.
