If you want to get the balance of your diet right, use the eatwell plate.

The eatwell plate makes healthy eating easier to understand by showing the types and proportions of foods we need to have a healthy and well balanced diet.

It's easier than you might think to pack more fruit and vegetables into your child's lunch box.

Include food from each group to ensure variety and a balanced meal:

  • Starchy foods eg bread, pasta, or rice salad
  • Salad/Vegetables/Fruit (fresh, tinned, dried or juice)
  • Protein foods eg meat, fish, egg, Quorn
  • Dairy foods eg carton of milk, yoghurt, cheese
